About the teacher
Mark P. is a graduate of UBC in the International Relations Program with a major in History. For his ESL qualifications, he holds a TESOL diploma in addition to working for two years as an IELTS writing and speaking examiner. As an ESL teacher professionally for over the last decade, he is very familiar with what learners need to succeed and passionate about helping them achieve their goals and become more confident in their learning process. Mark Perrault has a solid knowledge of the IELTS format, and his lessons have helped several IELTS students succeed. He has taught all age groups, needs categories and levels of E.S.L. – from general ESL to academic prep, to business English and finally English for settlement purposes. These experiences have enabled him to develop a range of teaching methods to meet the varied demands of learners and have deepened his understanding of different cultural and individual learning needs. Mark Perrault always strives to provide lessons that engage learners and help them develop their proficiency. In addition to his teaching background, he is multilingual. While he is a native English speaker, he can speak and teach intermediate-level French. He has also acquired proficient Mandarin and German. Being multilingual has helped him to better appreciate the challenges that learning a second language presents.
